Nathan here, for Shyla:
While we have had several false starts over the past several days, at midnight last night (Monday the 20th), Shyla started some real labor. By 2 am this morning, her contractions were about 5 minutes apart. At 3:30 I took Jackson to Phil and Wendy Cone's house, and at 4 am we came to the hospital. She was 6 cm dilated, which was a big improvement over our visit last year with Jackson. The doctor broke her water at 6:25. By 7:20, the she was feeling like she might want to get an epidural (last time with Jackson, she had stayed at 4 cm for 12 hours, and the epidural was needed to help her progress). However, when the doctor came in, he said she was 8 cm, and had her start pushing, and by 7:41 am, Owen Samuel Rohrer was born, without an epidural (Christina, Shyla wanted me to highlight this for you). He weighed 8lbs 9 oz, and is 21 inches long. Everything seems to be in good shape and he is eating well. We expect to go home on Thursday. Mom Morrison was already planning on coming down today, and should be here this evening. Praise the Lord!

Congratulations! Glad to hear everything went well.
WAY TO GO, SHYLA!!!! And praise the Lord for another healthy baby! Get some rest and enjoy the help while you can! We will be praying for you all!!
Yeah for you Shyla! Sounds like things went swimmingly - although I doubt you felt that way when you were at 8! =) I'm thrilled for you all.
Hallelujah! Wasn't it just last night I was teasing you about being so disappointed at no baby? Congratulations--I can't believe it! You're a champ!
Congratulations! We're so excited for you all! Owen is precious. You're a trooper Shyla! Praise the Lord for a healthy little boy.
Congratulations! Owen is adorable!
shy- you are the bomb! you're all that... and a bag of chips. you're sweet action! what other slang-ish phrases can i throw in there?? you're a rock of a woman and i applaud you.... i don't wish to follow in your footsteps, but i applaud you. :) he looks like another cutie pie! and a nearly 9 pounder....yowza. i'm starting to hurt for you so i think i'll stop thinking about this whole "epidural free" streak that's moving through the blogosphere like a hot knife through butter.
seriously, praise the Lord and congrats!
and kudos for the "i'm going to kill you, nathan" picture. i love it! :)
CONGRATS Rohrer family! I bet Jackson will be thrilled to have a baby brother in the family! How has he reacted to the baby? Wow, bummer you couldn't have an epidural but I'm sure that will make recovery much easier.
Get your rest and enjoy your tiny miracle!
Congratulations! Looking forward to more pictures!
Congratulations!!! Owen is so handsome!! Ditto on all of Christina's comments about no epidural!! You are amazing! Get some rest when you can.
Congratulations! How precious they are! Just got back from vacation and was so excited to see the baby had come! Having two boys of my own - get some rest :)
Congratulations!!! I love the name, and he is sure a little cutie pie. :) Glad to hear everything went well, and hope you can get lots of rest over the next days and weeks as you all adjust to being a family of four!
Shyla I am envious of you! You are not going to believe this...Jack has still not come and you were due after me! I about died when I read your blog. :) I'm 9 days late and they won't induce me until Monday. :( I was supposed to come in today, but the hospital was full so the new date is Monday. So help me if they are still full! :) I really am happy for you, and very cute little boy!
Ginny
hey, I have to say I'm impressed with your Dr. who didn't shove an epidural in you faster than you could say 'Jack Flash'. I've heard some stories of nurses practically standing there with the needle as the mom walked in. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and congrats. Ummm...you don't look very happy in that last picture. ;)
wow, congratulations. he is a cutie. i love the name owen. and wow, without an epidural.
congratulations!
