Birthing Class Update

Well, it was interesting, that's for sure.
I thought that overall it was very beneficial - especially since I am desiring to go the no drug route.
I went in there "all business" but as you can imagine, when the relaxation techniques began, my husband and I got a serious bout of the giggles (which mine only came when i looked at Nathan or he was making smart comments in my ear!)
I was really afraid that the instructor was going to get annoyed, and even though she may have, she was really nice about all of us who had the giggles!

Our friends Wendy and Phil had their little boy on Sunday night around 11:15pm. HE'S BEAUTIFUL! I honestly have not seen may beatiful new newborns...but he really was "flawless". 7lbs 11oz - 22"long. I was amazed when I was at the hospital visiting them, that just the day before, that baby was inside of her. It's so amazing to think how cramped in those little guys have to be to fit in our bodies! WONDERFULLY MADE!!

On my way to Wendy's room, I took a wrong turn into the labor and delivery ward. When I was walking through, I heard a lady giving her last push and then I heard her baby cry! OK - enter emotional mess here!! Not only did i feel like i just heard the most amazing thing on earth, but I definitely thought I should not be in that hallway. There's no good option for the baby to come out. Either way seems like a bad deal! :)

I started this post on Monday and It's now Friday. That's the kinda of week it's been!! Busy! Here's a pic of my tummy with 7 weeks and 2 days left! :) Yesterday I went in for an ultrasound and I was so excited to see the baby and they forgot to put me on the schedule AGAIN. :( I was a little more than disappointed! But, we heard the heartrate of the baby. It's been between 140-150 and yesterday it was 163!! Sheesh! Maybe it's working out in there! :) (or maybe it was because I was rushing to get to my appointment on time! Who knows!

My sister Jenny will be here next week for spring break, so that is exciting! It will be great to spend time with her and it will be nice for her to FINALLY see my house and my ever swelling tummy!

Hope that you all have a great weekend!
Shyla

I was worried about you too Shyla! I was hoping you weren't in pre-term labor. I, like Christina, was the size of a small house with 7 weeks left. You look fabulous and you are just glowing with happiness.

When I went in for induction I had a long time to wait on the delivery floor and I got to hear much screaming and wailing from mommys in pain. Thankfully (sort of) I had a c-section and didn't have to go through that pain myself. God will get you through it. By that point you'll just be so excited to get that baby out you won't care (hopefully)!

Boy you've got me curious about that picture you didn't post . . . .

Wow!! I was starting to get worried about you! You usually post every day or at least every other day! I kept checking and checking on your blog and praying and praying that you were ok!

I am so glad that you and Nathan had a good class! You look wonderful and oh so ready to be a new mommy!

I want to see that other pic!!!!

Hey Shyla,
I luckily get to see you often and I knew you were ok. You have a glow about you that I miss. I just jumped on to say that I finally, after weeks of hemming and hawing, have my blog set up. David made fun of my first name so this one is a little more to his liking.
I can't wait to see that little girl! (no, Shyla has not been holding out on everyone else, but ladies if you could see her straight on, she looks like she is carrying a girl!) We will soon see!

You do look good for 30 weeks pregnant. I, too, was huge by that point, I could've swore I was carrying twins, but thankful there was only one. I have been amazed at how fast it comes off. When I was in labor (was induced also), there was a girl screaming down the hall, and the nurses shut the door real quick and made some excuse of why that was. :) As if I didn't get it. Anyways, I end up having a c-section too, like Alicia. It wasn't that bad and I had lots of help.

I echo every one in saying you look so great! Don't you just love being pregnant? I did, but alas, I too fear that I looked to be the size of a house (notice I didn't say "small") and scared small children by the time I was full-term.

I'm glad the class was helpful to you; that's an amazing story about hearing that baby be born! And, I'm dying to see that picture!

Hey Shyla,
You are looking so adorable!!! The countdown begins! More power to you for wanting to do the natural way. Whenever we get pregnant, I'm already wanting to lean that way. My husband kind of disagrees since he knows my pain tolerance, but we shall see!

You look great!! CONGRATS!!

Shyla,
Thanks for the news. I love reading your blogs, cause it helps me know what we are going to dealing with in the near future! Glad to hear the whole birthing class wasn't too scary. We haven't decided what we're going to do on that one yet, guess we should decide in the next couple of months. . . You look great by the way!
